DJ Heaven
Twenty three years old and a Capricorn, Heaven was born in Wales and moved to Birmingham aged 10. It was there she discovered her love of clubbing and House music."I was so into the clubbing and the music that I found I was buying records months before they were even being played in many of the clubs."
Frustrated by the lazy DJ's who failed to keep up with new music, she decided to take to the decks herself.
Her first inspiration was a janitor at Wobble, the Birmingham club. It was this brummie cleaner who helped her during her first test on the decks and showed her how to match tracks.A couple of summers in Ibiza recently sent her on what she describes as a "Techno Trip" but she is back now in the heart of British House. Gone are the days of Cheesey House and Techno-heads - British house is now an amalgamation of all these different genres played to an uplifting beat, she says. Her second and most important inspiration was Sasha, a fellow Welsh-person. At a time when the sparse synthesised tones of Hard Acid were dominant in the clubs, Sasha brought in inspiring piano rifts and set up the up-lifting melodies that have subsequently proved hugely popular.
"He is my biggest influence".
Five months ago she left her clothes shop, aerobics teaching and DJing in Birmingham to move to London where she hopes to be exposed to a wider range of music.
