Whilst being Britain’s best known Latin percussionist, Snowboy is also one of Acid Jazz’s premier artists. He was recently voted 4th in a poll of the public’s all-time favourite “acid jazz” acts.
Whilst working constantly with his own band “The Latin Section”, Snowboy regularly hammers his congas for Lisa Stansfield and The James Taylor Quartet, and has done so for some 5 years.
With these bands and more he has toured the world 3 times, appeared on the Johnny Carson, Arsenio Hall and David Letterman shows, and played in front of a ¼ of a million people at Maracana Stadium in Rio, Brazil !!Snowboy himself takes his band to Europe, has toured Japan twice, and plays in the UK’s top venues. His band play no nonsense, hard driving and heavily percussive Latin Jazz, which always beats the audience into exhausted submission after a furious dance session.
Snowboy’s last 3 singles, “Lucky Fellow”, “Give Me Sunshine” with Noel McKoy, and “Girl Over Board” featuring Anna Ross, show his deep soul influence, an element that is reflected in the Latin Jazz stylings of his albums; “Ritmo Snow”, “Discarga Mambito” and “Something’s Coming”. “The Best Of Snowboy”, his 4th album, is a collection of some of the finest moments from Snowboy and the Latin Section.
